DLA published stock, backorder and reorder point

DLA's published stock position per item per condition code: on hand, on backorder, and reorder point. Two source files are returned as separate labelled arrays — deliberately not joined.

This is a monthly snapshot, not live inventory — always read snapshot_date. Condition codes are raw and undecoded. Absence is not zero stock.

Source & conduct: Source: DLA FOIA OHandBO and OHandROP bulk files. Owner browser download. Export-control carve-out applied at ingestion.

There is a portal for this: DIBIQ puts DLA award and item context in front of a bidder as pages rather than tool calls. Same subscription, same refusals.

Records

—

Latest backorder + reorder-point snapshots (status probes backorder table)

Coverage

—

Populates from /api/dataset-coverage when a row exists

Scope

Snapshot rows

FOIA Electronic Reading Room · export-control carve-out

Freshness

Monthly

Human drop + ingest · JSON · Public · included in subscription

Coverage figures populate from the ingestion pipeline after bin/refresh-coverage.py writes a dataset_coverage row for dla.stock_position.

Query parameters

nsnstring

National Stock Number, dashed or bare 13-digit -- both work. This table stores the BARE form (DLA publishes it undashed in these files); the tool matches either, so a format difference can never look like "no stock on file".

niinstring

National Item Identification Number, bare or dashed 9-digit.

fscstring

Federal Supply Class (4-digit), exact match. Export-controlled classes are withheld regardless of what is passed here.

condition_codestring

Raw DLA condition code (A, B or C observed). Its meaning is NOT published by DLA -- filter on it only if you already know what you are asking for.

latest_onlyboolean

Default true -- return only the most recent snapshot per condition code. Set false to see every snapshot on file for the item.

limitinteger

Max records to return (default 25, max 50)

offsetinteger

Rows to skip before the page starts (0-based, default 0).

The full input schema is served by the MCP server at connection time.

What you can ask

  • Is this NSN below reorder point with quantity on backorder?
  • Judge bid urgency from DLA's own published supply position
  • Compare stock position across condition codes without inventing a join

Schema

Fields from the live catalog entry for dla.stock_position. Sample values below are synthetic schema shapes — not live FOIA rows.

Field Type Description
nsn13stringNational Stock Number, BARE 13-digit as DLA publishes it in these files (the tool accepts dashed or bare input) — the item identity and join key.
niinstringNational Item Identification Number, bare 9-digit (last 9 of nsn13).
fscstringFederal Supply Class, the first 4 digits of nsn13. Export-controlled classes are withheld.
snapshot_datedateThe position as of this date — the last day of the month preceding publication. ALWAYS read this: the figure is a monthly snapshot, never live inventory.
condition_codestringRAW DLA code (A, B or C observed). Its meaning is NOT published in the layout DLA ships with the file and none is invented here.
total_stocknumberQuantity on hand at that snapshot, for that condition code.
backorder_qtynumberQuantity on backorder at that snapshot (backorder file only). Absent is not zero.
reorder_pointnumberThe reorder point at that snapshot (reorder-point file only). Stock at or below it is DLA's own signal that a buy is due.
adqnumberPublished by DLA in the backorder file under this name with NO documented meaning. Stored verbatim rather than guessed at or renamed.
file_stampdatePublication stamp of the monthly file the row came from, taken from the FILENAME.

Illustrative synthetic record from catalog.json — identifiers are fabricated so a real FOIA row is never reproduced on this public page.

Use it for

  • Spot items DLA is short of — stock below its reorder point with quantity on backorder
  • Judge bid urgency from DLA's own published supply position rather than from guesswork
  • Track an item's stock position month over month from the retained snapshot history
